BWSR began their work with a strong commitment to an inclusive, participatory strategic planning process involving staff and board members along with partners around the state. Following a summary performance assessment of the agency’s work against their previous strategic priorities, we led the statewide engagement to gather input from over 200 staff, BWSR board members, and key partners through virtual and in-person engagements and an online survey. We analyzed and used feedback to shape subsequent planning (Analysis of Round 1 input).
In the analysis and planning phase, BWSR board members, staff, and key partners participated in a comprehensive SWOT analysis, then used engagement and SWOT results to inform two in-person workshops with board members and staff leadership to draft a new vision, mission statement, long-term goals, and mid-term strategies (BWSR Mission/Vision Workshop results).
We then gathered feedback on the draft vision, mission, goals, and strategies from over 100 board members, staff, and key partners, and used the results to further refine the content into a working Strategic Plan. To ensure successful implementation, worked with staff across the agency to develop detailed actions, identify agency-wide collaboration opportunities, and develop, pilot, and launch processes to monitor, evaluate, report out, and routinely refine the plan.
